Here, life, development, and performance coach Suzanne Griffiths shares her top tips on how to set yourself up for success in your journey to become the very best version of you.

 

One of the most common questions I get asked as a life coach is ‘how can I be the best version of me?”

I wish I could come out with a standard response with a few exercises to complete, and then very quickly, whoosh, there you go – your best version of you comes shining through… Although that actually sounds a bit boring, where’s the fun in that?

Don’t worry; we’ve got your back and want to have some fun with you along the way. There will be lots of information, assistance, and support to help you become the best version of yourself in 2024; the point I’ll come back to repeatedly is that we are all unique; forget everyone else and remember this is all about YOU!

Whether you’re a beginner to exercise, fitness, and wellness or are looking to recommit, you should recognise that everyone is unique and that whilst we’re all aiming for the same destination – our best year yet – each individual’s journey to this success will look and feel totally different.

On that note, to get us started, let’s have a quick look at my top tips for embracing YOU:

Top Tip Number One – BE UNIQUE

Oscar Wilde said, “Be yourself; everyone else is taken.” This is the perfect advice to get us started! It’s great to have role models and people we can look to for inspiration, but don’t get caught up in comparing yourself to others – that’s an immediate dead end – your journey, your way!

Top Tip Number Two – YOUR POTENTIAL IS LIMITLESS

Everyone starts somewhere. This is the exciting part – what do you want to achieve; what does being the best version of YOU mean? What does 2024 have in store? Building muscle, elevating your game, losing weight? Spend some time defining precisely what YOUR goals are.

Top Tip Number Three – BE YOUR OWN BEST FRIEND

My clients constantly shock me; they’re nice and supportive, then suddenly nasty and ruthless to themselves - practice self-love by talking to yourself as a kind and caring friend. Double up the love by inviting your friend to come along on their own fitness journey too.

Top Tip Number Four – DO THINGS YOU ENJOY

If you’re forcing yourself to get through your exercise regime, then it probably isn’t going to last. Take the time to experiment and play with your fitness and wellness – what do you enjoy; what makes time fly; what pumps up those endorphins and releases that feel-good buzz?   

Top Tip Number Five – PERFECTLY ACCEPTABLE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH!

Welcome your flaws and imperfections. As we go along, you may decide to accept and embrace these, or we’ll devise goals and an improvement plan. Striving for perfection is exhausting, and you’ll end up stuck and unhappy – definitely not part of our 2024 plan!
